Title: Diffusion Geometry and Harmonic Analysis on point clouds in high dimension.
Speaker: Ronald Coifman, Yale
Location: 215 LOM
Abstract:
This talk is an overview of recent progress in understanding the role of eigenvectors of a matrix in providing coordinates and organization of various geometries (rows and columns viewed as point clouds). Harmonic analysis becomes a natural geometric/analytic tool, in particular the usual links between localization in spectrum and localization in the appropriate geometries is extended to this setting.

These ideas will be illustrated through applications to data analysis, Riemannian Geometry, machine learning , image processing etc.
