Generalized uncertainty principles and the Truncated Fourier Transform (TFT)

Abstract:
In this talk I will generalize Landau-Pollak uncertainty principle in a way that
the Heisenberg-Pauli-Weyl uncertainty principle will stem as a special case. I
will find the spectrum of the TFT on the positive half-axis. I will show the
behaviour of the spectrum of the TFT on the interval [-a,a] as a approaches to
infinity. I'll show that there is a unique self-adjoint extension to the formal
differential operator -d/dt (1-t2 / a2)d/dt + t2 which commute with the TFT
on the interval [-a,a].
