    Who

32 bells, of which only 23 are speaking, given by Mrs. Edward Deeds in memory of her husband and her family. The bells were cast by the Meneely Bell Co. at Troy, NY, USA. The largest bell weighs about 7,000 pounds, but it is not known whether it is a speaking bell or not. If it is, the note is supposedly about a#. The non-speaking bells are used as ornamentation, exposed with the speaking bells in an open framework without roof or floor, and giving the appearance of a larger carillon than it is. The bells are hung from brackets, one under the other, the largest at the top and descending vertically to the smallest at the bottom. They are playable only by means of an electrically operated ivory keyboard.

The carillon was inaugurated on the 23rd of August, 1942, with Mrs. Edward A. Deeds playing the electrically operated keyboard.
