My name is Gary Shu Ling.
In Chinese, Shu means precious rain and Ling,
my last name, means ice. I came to the United States almost 4 years ago. Since then I
started to call myself Gary for no reason. Click here for an image of my Chinese name.
I come from Nanjing, China. It is the last major city along
the Yangtse River before its final stop in Shanghai. Before 1949, my home town was China's
capitol. Still it is very touristy.
The rest of my family are still in China. My brother might be
able to attend Yale's Master program in Computer Science this Fall. And both of my parents
are retired.
After finishing college at Nanjing University, I came to Yale and completed with Master of Science and
Master of Philosophy degrees in Computer Science.
I have interned for two summers at Microsoft. And after
graduation, I accepted the offer to work with Oracle, the database giant based in the Silicon Valley, California. So
far, I am pretty happy with my choice.
If I could live 75 years, then I need to worry about how I
would spend the next two-thirds of my life. Hope it is as exciting. |
