"I can live with doubt and
uncertainty and not knowing - I think it's much more interesting to
live not knowing than to have answers that might be wrong. I have
approximate answers and possible beliefs and different degrees of
certainty about different things, but I'm not absolutely sure of
anything, and many things I don't know anything about, such as whether
it means anything to ask why we're here, and what the question might
mean. I might think about it a little bit, but if I can't figure it
out, then I go on to something else. But I don't have to know an
answer. I don't have to... I don't feel frightened by not knowing
things, by being lost in the mysterious universe without having any
purpose, which is the way it really is, as far as I can tell, possibly.
It doesn't frighten me." --- Richard Feynman
If you happen to have a map of India, and you search for the location with 20°15' N latitude and 85°52' E longitude, you will find my homecity Bhubaneswar, which also happens to be the capital of the eastern Indian state of Orissa. If you already clicked on the link and also followed a few others down the tree by now, you have possibly discovered by yourself that it is a beautiful city with lots and lots of temples, art, architecture and sculptures; a feast for the culturally inclined. Now coming back to my own story, I had my first 10 years of education (1985-1996) at Stewart School, Bhubaneswar. I completed the next two years of higher secondary education at BJB College, Bhubaneswar. In 1998, I joined the undergraduate program in Computer Science at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and completed my Bachelor of Technology in 2002. In 2003 I moved to the United States to pursue higher education at the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. I completed my Masters program at Yale in 2005 and then moved to the Greater Boston area, where I have been living and working since then. ![]() |
