THE WOMEN OF NASA INTERNET PROJECT
NASA is pleased to announce the "Women of NASA" project. The "Women of
NASA" project is an opportunity for teachers to introduce their students
to the exciting world of math and science through the eyes of women
working at NASA in various disciplines. These women provide a link
between the real-world and what students are actually learning in the
classroom.
Targeted primarily at the middle school grades, the "Women of NASA"
projects can be easily adapted for elementary and high school use.
Within the context of the "Women of NASA" project, students and teachers
can find:
- Profiles of women at NASA working in a variety of disciplines. In
these profiles the women describe their jobs and offer words of
encouragement to students.
- mailing lists where subscribers can get journal updates of the daily
work lives of the women profiled, updates on the
project. There are also opportunities for students to collaborate and
for teachers to collaborate.
- Information about organizations and other online resources for
students and teachers that focus on increasing the number of girls
pursuing math and science careers. Included are bibliographies of
materials related to gender equity in the classroom and math and science
curriculum from Girls' Incorporated.
