Hong Xiao

I have recently graduated from the Department of Computer Science at Yale University. My doctoral dissertation was on Prolate Spheroidal Wave Functions and related numerical techniques for band-limited functions. I am currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mathematics at University of California, Davis, where I am also a member of the Graduate Program of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Since graduation, I have worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at the Computer Science Department of Yale University with Professor Vladimir Rokhlin, on projects including the construction of asymptotic formulae for Prolate Spheroidal Wave Functions in one dimension, the construction of symmetric quadrature for two and three dimensional structures, and the development of clustering algorithms for high-dimensional data. My current research interests include band-limited functions, fast numerical methods, and their applications in image processing, digital signal processing and communication.
